Sensitivity, Selectivity and Linear Range of Flame Ionization Detector (FID) Based Gas Detection Systems are Ideal for Monitoring Hydrocarbons in Drilling Fluids - During Oil & Gas Exploration.
The improved accuracy that is achieved using FID based Gas Detection Systems is widely recognized as the industry standard by the major Oil & Gas Companies for mud logging.
Current Monitoring Practices
Two methods being used to monitor hydrocarbons in drilling fluids - Total Hydrocarbon Analyzer using a Flame Ionization Detector (FID) which is selective to hydrocarbons and offers a typical range of <100ppm – 50% as Methane and - Automated Gas Chromatograph using a Flame Ionization Detector (FID) configured for C1-C5 analysis including Propylene, used in Gas Referencing, in < 60 seconds with a typical range of <10ppm to 50% as Methane.
